PREPARING TO SELL - PAINTING: One of the best ways to prepare a home for sale is with fresh paint. The return on investment is high. I recommend having the same neutral color throughout the home, or at least in the primary living areas. Strong wall colors and wallpaper are associated with lower selling prices. It is a good idea to hire a professional painter. Use primer when painting over darker colors. The painters should be instructed to paint both the walls and the trim. Try flat or eggshell to hide imperfections on the walls. Avoid semi gloss or satin except in the bathrooms. If the home is older, painting the ceilings is also a good idea.
